The Mississippi House of Representatives adopted SCR 501, a concurrent resolution honoring the 30th anniversary of the Mississippi Court of Appeals, on a recorded vote of 128-0.

Representative Powell, speaking as the member explaining the resolution, said, "We have a concurrent resolution commemorating and honoring the 30 year anniversary of the establishment of the Mississippi Court of Appeals and commending its accomplishments." The House voted after the clerk opened and closed the voting machine and returned a tally of 128 ayes and 0 nays. The resolution was adopted and the House approved the immediate release of the resolution.

The measure was presented as a committee report from the House Committee on Rules identifying the resolution as SCR 501 and stating the title was sufficient for adoption. No amendments or recorded opposition were reported on the resolution during the session.

In addition to the resolution vote, members approved several routine procedural motions by voice vote. Representative Powell moved to dispense with the reading of the journal; the motion carried. The House recessed and later returned to session, and members approved a motion to adjourn until 4 p.m. Monday. The clerk announced that the Appropriations Committee B hearings would not meet that day.

The session also included introductions and brief announcements. Representative Grady introduced Dr. Kelly Darnell, director of the University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast Research Lab in Ocean Springs. Representative Hurst introduced a guest, identified as her daughter Anna Reagan. Representative Bell announced an MEC capital day event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mississippi Trademark Center.
