Hollidaysburg Ambulance told borough council it responded to 1,368 calls in Hollidaysburg in 2024 and that the service handled about 91% of calls dispatched through the county 911 center.
The ambulance presentation came during staff reports at the council meeting. Jessica, the ambulance board president, said the organization also takes many calls that are not dispatched by 911 — including fire standbys and public-service coverage at school events — and relies on mutual aid agreements with neighboring ambulance services when its units are unavailable.
"We're responding to approximately 91% of dispatch calls in the borough," Jessica said. Nicole, the ambulance office manager, opened the presentation and described the service's open-door policy for residents and local leaders, and invited community members to attend board meetings or ask about membership drives.
Council members asked no substantive questions during the report. The ambulance leaders said they are available to discuss membership and community outreach with borough staff and residents.
The presentation did not include requests for borough funding or specific contract proposals; ambulance staff framed the appearance as an update and an invitation for community engagement.
