Citrus County staff told the Aviation Advisory Board that a first draft of airport minimum standards, rules and regulations has been developed and will be passed to the county attorney for review before being presented to the board for consideration.
The draft matters because minimum standards will govern tenant and operator behavior at county airports, including lease terms and operational requirements.
Staff said the draft was prepared in consultation with Alex Vaca and will be forwarded to the county attorney for legal review; after that review, the county will present the draft to the advisory board and allow time for public comment. Board and public members were advised to be prepared for a long meeting when the item is scheduled — staff suggested March as the expected timeframe for presentation and discussion.
During the open-comment period, Barry Simon of TA Chapter 1674 asked when his chapter could formally review the draft; staff recommended attendance at the March meeting and said the door would not be closed to later comment, though attendees should expect a lengthy hearing.
Ending
Staff said they will present the reviewed draft at a future meeting (target: March) and that further public input would be accepted at that time.
