The David Douglas School Board approved the districtalendar for the 2025-26 school year Wednesday, adopting dates the administration said align with local universities and nearby districts.
Andy (administration) presented the proposed calendar and said the district tried to maintain the schedule that staff and families preferred, including the timing of the post-Christmas return. He said the calendar was developed with input from union partners and the Multnomah Early Childhood Program, as required by the contract.
A board member moved to approve the calendar, the motion was seconded and passed unanimously by roll call. Board members recorded as voting aye included Barrow, Ender, Virginia Lopez, Franklin, Camara Josen, Steens and Nguyen.
Board members noted that the calendar is the districtwide framework; detailed leveled calendars for specific programs will follow and were discussed during bargaining. The calendar will be posted and used for planning for the 2025-26 school year.
