A staff member from a congressional office described constituent services available to Roswell residents, including federal agency casework, grant searches and assistance with Veterans Administration and Social Security matters.
Constance Williams, who identified herself as a constituent‑services staffer in the Portales field office, said the office helps residents navigate federal agency processes, conducts weekly grant searches for local organizations and handles nominations for federal academies. She described the casework process and asked constituents to provide a signed letter authorizing the office to act on their behalf when staff pursue issues with federal agencies such as the VA or Social Security.
Williams noted recent difficulties processing some PACT Act claims at the VA and encouraged anyone who has filed a PACT Act claim or believes they are eligible to contact the office for assistance. She said a congressional grants coordinator can identify potential federal funding opportunities for projects and that the office typically begins outreach for grant ideas in March.
Williams provided a contact number for follow‑up assistance and offered to meet with local organizations or constituents in Roswell and surrounding Chavez County communities.
