Council discusses boards and commissions, adds JustServe volunteer coordination proposal and considers veterans commission restart

Ewing cited Boise’s experience and the potential volunteer-hours value: “Boise puts it at $1,500,000 is equivalent volunteer hours that they get annually for their city,” he said during remarks summarizing the program’s potential.
Councilmembers said the youth advisory council remains active and that its projects could be posted on JustServe; one council member said the youth advisory council has led volunteer efforts such as making holiday cards for local care facilities. Council members agreed to add a committee to help coordinate JustServe outreach and to involve communications staff in listing city projects for volunteers.
On the veterans commission, councilmembers said a citizen expressed interest in restarting the commission; they agreed to schedule a follow-up meeting to determine next steps. Councilmembers also reviewed other liaison roles and indicated no broad changes to the current assignments.
