Superintendent Broski announced on Jan. 9 that Clay County District Schools posted a 95% overall high school graduation rate for the latest reporting period, noting that every high school in the district improved or maintained high rates.
Broski said the districtwide rate was "95% is extremely, extremely high," and explained the state calculation is strict, which he said makes the result notable. He told the board the State of Florida released its numbers the same day.
The superintendent read school-by-school rates presented at the meeting: Fleming Island High School, 97.05%; Orange Park High School, 91.2%; Keystone Heights High School, 93%; Clay High School, 93%; Middleburg High School, 96.4%; Ridgeview High School, 96%; Oakleaf High School, 98% (the highest in the county); and Clay Virtual Academy (CVA), 97%.
Broski and several principals discussed factors that affect the calculation, including students who enroll after 9th grade and how out‑of‑district transfers are tracked. "Sometimes students show up as an 11th grader with 8 credits," Broski said, describing why the district monitors cases closely. He added that Florida’s graduation-rate formula excludes GEDs or certificate-of-completion measures and called Florida’s method among the most stringent in the country.
Board members and principals accepted recognition for the results with brief remarks and photographs on stage. Broski said higher graduation rates reflect school leadership and targeted supports across the district.
The announcement was presented as part of the regular agenda; no formal board action on graduation reporting occurred during the meeting.
