An application for renovation, a rear addition and a new two‑car garage at 2415 South Havenwood (ARB-2456) was presented Jan. 9. Staff noted that the detached garage had initially been drawn 2 feet from the property line and the applicant agreed to shift it 1 foot to meet the setback requirement.
Board members requested several refinements before final approval: lower eave height on the addition so the original house appears visually dominant, reconsideration of the large horizontal window above the new addition (options included a dormer or grouped vertical windows), alignment of new windows with existing fenestration rhythm, higher-grade siding than vinyl (cited as a preference for cement board/hardy product) and a more configured garage door and entry detailing to better relate to the existing house.
Given those requested changes and the number of detail items for staff and the design consultant to review, the ARB voted to table the application to the Feb. 13 meeting so the team could return with revised elevations and material choices.
