Corte Madera committee members who attended the Nov. 14 Regional Gathering of Sustainability and Climate Committees described the meeting as a chance to share strategies, with San Anselmo highlighted for an active resiliency hub and an electrification workshop series.
A member who attended said representatives came from the San Anselmo Climate Action Commission, Fairfax Climate Action Committee, Sausalito Sustainability Commission and Sustainable San Rafael, among others, and that the Marine Climate and Energy Partnership (MCEP) coordinates monthly staff meetings. Attendees shared successes, lessons learned and focus areas for the next year.
Committee members noted a range of local programs discussed at the gathering. Fairfax was mentioned in connection with a rebate program for e-bikes and electric yard equipment; committee members said they would follow up through the Climate Action Collaborative to learn funding sources and program structure. San Anselmo described creating a resiliency hub (a local backup-power site for outages) and reported holding outreach tables on Friday and Saturday nights with mixed results.
One attendee said a neighboring jurisdiction used a “scorecard” to summarize progress, which the committee found of interest for tracking local performance. The meeting prompted suggestions to raise awareness about regional rebate programs and trade practices; committee members said they would report back to the Climate Action Collaborative and explore peer outreach examples.
No formal actions were taken at the Corte Madera meeting on this topic; members planned follow-ups with regional contacts and to bring program details back to the committee.
