Councilmember Jonathan Bolas was elected president of council and Councilmember Donald Pavlik was elected vice president during the Tallmadge City Council's organizational meeting. Both elections were decided by 6-0 roll call votes. The council also confirmed committee chair and vice-chair assignments and held off action on a Richardson Trust/Firefighters' Dependent Fund item until it can be properly noticed.
The council nominated and voted to elect Jonathan Bolas as president. After the vote Bolas said, "Thank you all very much for your nomination and electing me president. I'm very humbled by this experience and I just look forward to the, next couple years of our term together." A roll call showed six votes in favor and none opposed.
Donald Pavlik was nominated and elected vice president by the same 6-0 roll call. The council then moved to confirm committee assignments for the coming term. Councilmember Bolas summarized the proposed committee lineup, saying he planned "to maintain committees as assigned" with adjustments for newly seated members.
The council confirmed the following committee chairs and vice chairs as presented: Finance — Chair Donald Pavlik, Vice Chair Christine Cipa; Personnel — Chair Christine Cipa, Vice Chair Donald Pavlik; Safety — Chair Nicholas Rubino, Vice Chair Ted Roy; Planning and Zoning — Chair Mary Gutman, Vice Chair Jessica Epstein; Community Issues — Chair Ted Roy, Vice Chair Mary Gutman; Public Service — Chair Jessica Epstein, Vice Chair Nicholas Rubino. The motion to accept the committee assignments was approved by roll call vote, 6-0.
Councilmembers also noted that an item involving the Richardson Trust and the Firefighters' Dependent Fund appeared on a different, already-noticed agenda and should be taken up at the meeting where it was properly noticed. The council agreed to hold that item until the regular scheduled meeting at 7:00 p.m. and did not act on it at the organizational meeting.
With no further business, a motion to adjourn passed by roll call and the meeting ended at 6:36 p.m.
