Presenters said the contractor paid fees based on a 2-inch water meter and a 2-inch sewer/tap configuration; the project will instead use a 1.5-inch meter with a separate 4-inch fire line. Meeting figures show the total payment made to date for both water and wastewater taps was $38,860.11. Staff calculated that changing the meter/tap sizing to the 1.5-inch configuration would yield a credit of $13,934.77; the motion approved by the commission authorized an additional $12,462.67 adjustment (netting to a total adjustment of $26,397.44) so the combined adjustment would be processed through the appropriate accounts and show on the adjustment journal.
Commissioners emphasized that the contractor paid the initial fees prior to final meter-size decisions and that the adjustment aligns fees to the meter size to be installed. Staff noted that the billing office can directly refund up to $500 and that larger refunds must be authorized by the commission; the commission motion provided that authorization.
The motion passed on a roll-call vote with Commissioners Sayers, Ball, Reinhart and Gant recorded as voting yes. Staff told the applicant to coordinate the address assignment and final account setup with the county tax map office and city billing staff.
