Commissioner Ball and three other commissioners approved the waiver after Ken Byers, speaking for the absent account holder Fatima Foy, said the tenants had fallen behind and the owners had paid the lien amount to keep the property from being placed in lien. Byers said the remaining balance included $491.57 in late fees, which billing staff recalculated as a total of $451.57 in late charges after correcting the count of $8.17 and $40 charges.
The waiver covers only city late fees on the account; Clinton Township fees were described in the meeting as township charges that the commission does not have authority to waive. The commission instructed Byers to coordinate the final paperwork and adjustments with Robin in the water billing office.
Commission action: The motion to waive $451.57 passed on a roll call vote with Commissioners Sayers, Ball, Reinhart and Gant recorded as voting yes. The clerk directed the billing office to process the adjustment with Robin.
