The Common Council of the City of Decatur adopted Resolution 2024-10 to fund finishing HVAC work at the Merritt Center.
Finance staff said the city received the contractor’s bill last week for about $49,000 for chilling/heating equipment ordered more than a year earlier. The payment had not been included in the annual budget, and a supplemental appropriation was previously anticipated to cover the expense. Staff noted the county previously paid the city $200,000 related to property the county is building on, and part of that arrangement included updating the Merritt Center’s heating and air conditioning.
Council members moved to introduce the resolution by short title and, after a second, voted to pass Resolution 2024-10. Contractors and staff present said the HVAC work — including valves and water-line replacements — is complete and performing.
Ending: Council asked staff to record the appropriation in the minutes and confirm that proper public notices were published as required.
