Student representatives report activities and tutoring plans; board approves consent agenda

A student representative described a mentoring program separate from academic tutoring: “The mentoring program is separate. It doesn't really revolve around academics. It more revolves around, you know, emotional health towards students and making sure that each transition, you know, is safe.” That student said the program would pair older students with younger students at several transition points (for example, seniors helping freshmen, freshmen helping eighth-graders) and that counseling staff were working on the plan.
Board members encouraged student involvement in planning and recruitment for tutors and mentors. One board member said they would like student leaders to “reach out to students to see if they're interested in becoming tutors — academic tutors as well as mentors” and noted the benefit of service hours.
The board considered changes to the consent agenda, and the chair said, “I would consider a motion to approve the consent agenda.” After a motion and second, the board voted in favor of the consent agenda; the chair called for “All in favor?
