Grafton — The Grafton School Committee approved several routine but legally and operationally significant items at its Jan. 7 meeting, including the 2025–26 school calendar, a districtwide Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook and vendor advertising on the high school scoreboard.
Calendar: The committee voted to approve the Grafton Public Schools 2025–26 calendar. A motion to adopt the calendar was made and seconded; the chair called the vote and the motion “carries 4–0,” the record shows.
Student handbook: The committee approved the revised Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook as the districtwide reference document. Committee discussion noted the handbook will be supplemented by school-specific guidebooks for items that apply to particular grade bands. The motion to approve passed on a voice vote recorded as “Aye,” and minutes show the motion carried 4–0.
Scoreboard advertising: The athletic director had reported two local advertisers — Bankers Capital (previously approved) and Earthworks — will share costs for a new scoreboard at the second turf field. The committee voted to accept the advertising contracts as presented; the motion carried 4–0.
Minutes and warrants: The committee approved minutes from Nov. 19, 2024; it also approved the Dec. 10, 2024 minutes, with two committee members noting they abstained because they were not present. The committee accepted warrants (identified in the meeting as numbers 24, 25, 26 r6 and 26) as a group; the motion was moved and seconded and approved.
Procedural notes: Several agenda items were presented as updates rather than votes — the superintendent reported on a MEMA table-top exercise and the athletic director provided the scoreboard advertising renderings. The meeting also included presentations by elementary principals and a student representative report. No executive session was held.
