The Needham Conservation Commission on Jan. 9 voted unanimously to issue an order of conditions for work at 1169 South Street (DEP file 234-940), approving construction of a front porch, a rear bulkhead and a new shed. Commissioners noted the house addition described by the applicant lies outside the commission’s jurisdiction; the work occurring in the outer 50 feet of the 100‑foot buffer zone drew only standard permit conditions.

Staff described the project as routine: no special planting conditions were required because the work is in the outer portion of the 50‑ to 100‑foot buffer, and the commission applied its typical conditions for erosion control, monitoring and final compliance. Commissioners voted by roll call to issue the order of conditions; all members present voted in the affirmative.

The applicant will be required to submit documentation and satisfy the commission’s usual compliance checks before a certificate of compliance is issued.
