Lake County commissioners elect new president, approve appointments and revise public-comment rules

The Lake County Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Richard J. Reykjavich as board president and approved a package of appointments and procedural changes at its Jan. 9, 2025 reorganizational meeting, with commissioners voting unanimously on each resolution.

The actions, taken at the start of the board's calendar year, designated county representatives to multiple advisory boards and committees, confirmed an appointment to the county apiary inspector post and amended the rules governing public comment and meeting notifications.

Most immediately, the board approved a resolution electing Commissioner Richard J. Reykjavich president for 2025. The same meeting assigned commissioners as the county’s representatives or alternates on a series of bodies: the Automatic Data Processing Board, the Solid Waste Management Policy Committee, the Investment Advisory Committee (noting compliance with ORC section 135.341(a)-(c) in the resolution text), the Geographic Information System Board, the Narcotics Agency Executive Board, the Board of Revision, the Land Reutilization Corporation Board of Directors, and the Microfilming Board. The board also named representatives for voting at the County Commissioners Association of Ohio annual meeting and designated a representative to the 911 grama review committee.

The board appointed Mark Fletcher as the Lake County apiary inspector for 2025.
