Parks staff report progress across multiple projects: paths, lighting and pickleball courts

Kevin Kralik, speaking for the Lebanon Parks Department, gave a round of project updates covering trail work, park repairs and upcoming construction windows.

Kralik said crews began constructing and resurfacing an asphalt path east of Grant Street near the new Central Elementary and expected driveway work to be poured by the end of the week, with sidewalks to follow as weather allows. He said Witt Road project work is in environmental permitting now and that right-of-way acquisition will follow; the team is working toward a potential 2027 construction timeframe.

Noble Street is in early design after a kickoff meeting in December and survey crews have begun staking. At Stoneater Park the department is correcting errors on an information kiosk with the sign manufacturer. Kralik reported pickleball courts are now fully under contract and that he has requested a schedule of values from the contractor to identify potential cost savings and reuse opportunities.

At Abner Longley Park, the fishing pier is essentially complete except for ramp railings now under contract and a handful of punch-list items being handled by the contractor Deaton’s. Kralik said 55 light poles have been ordered using American Rescue Plan funds to improve lighting around the fishing pier and future path extensions; some punch-list landscaping and seating will wait until spring.

The Big 4 Trailhead parking improvements are fully under contract for spring installation and Rees Park enclosures (fencing, dog‑park and hop‑pond enclosures) are scheduled to be completed by year end, though weather has caused delays on some items. On Anderson Lane, the trail reflectors and most lighting east of Witham Hospital are complete; two light installs await equipment arrival.

Kralik closed by inviting board questions and said staff will provide requested schedules or further details when available.
