Lake County supervisors approve 2025 committee assignments after line-by-line review

The Lake County Board of Supervisors on an affirmative voice vote approved the chairman’s recommended committee assignments for 2025 after the chair walked through a lengthy, item-by-item review and supervisors volunteered or swapped seats on numerous local and regional committees.

The assignments determine which supervisors will represent Lake County on bodies ranging from local advisory committees to regional joint powers authorities and state-linked commissions. Board members discussed individual openings, confirmed several current appointments, and named replacements or alternates where supervisors indicated interest.

Chairman (name not specified) opened the item by saying he had compiled supervisors’ preferences into a spreadsheet and planned to "go down the list" to confirm appointments. Supervisors then addressed each committee in turn. Supervisor Rasmussen said, "I would love to," after being offered a seat on the Agricultural Advisory Committee. The board confirmed that Supervisor Pyska will remain on the committee and that Rasmussen will take the other seat.

Other confirmed or discussed assignments included: Airports/Airport Land Use (remaining with Supervisors Sabatier and Rasmussen); Area Agency on Aging (Supervisor Pyska and the chair, with CAO Parker as alternate); the Eel Russian River Commission (noted as dormant and not meeting since 2019; membership requires a Form 700 filing); ESGPA and related RCRC positions (left largely unchanged, with a note that several RCRC-linked roles are typically filled together); and the Lake County Recreation Agency (joint powers seat with city representation; a supervisor volunteered to be alternate).

Board members also noted meeting frequencies and administrative details while confirming appointments: the Caltrans committee meets quarterly; Emergency Medical Care Committee typically convenes every two months; ESGPA financial audit work is annual; Hope Rising meets monthly; and the Potter Valley Project ad hoc committee continues and will be discussed further in closed session. CAO Parker was asked to verify alternate arrangements for some panels and whether CAO presence is required by bylaws on certain boards.

After the roll-through of assignments and a brief call for public comment (none were heard), a supervisor moved to approve all changes as stated during the discussion; the motion was seconded, the board voted in favor, and the chair stated the motion carries.

The approved slate will be communicated to the county administration and to the external bodies that require formal appointments or filings, including any required Form 700 disclosures.
