Goodwill asks delegation to continue funding adult education and workforce programs in Putnam County

Goodwill Industries of North Florida updated the delegation on adult-education and workforce programs it runs in Putnam County and requested continued funding to sustain recent gains in certifications and job placements.
Rachel Mueller, Goodwill's chief fund development officer, said the organization's adult-education program (in partnership with the Department of Corrections) has enrolled more than 50 individuals and delivered nearly 50 certifications including forklift, heavy-equipment operator, Florida Ready to Work and CDL training. She said the agency has seen rapid success after a recent appropriation and asked the delegation to consider continued support this session.
Mueller said Goodwill also supports the local Take Stock in Children program, which has grown to more than 100 students with strong mentor and community backing. Delegation members thanked Goodwill for the update and were told the group's lobbyist would set meetings in Tallahassee.
