Senior Commission appoints Jeffrey Stalnick as county representative; plans off-site meetings and resource-guide updates

The Davis Senior Commission nominated and appointed Commissioner Jeffrey Stalnick to serve as the commission—s representative to the county commission on aging for the term running January through June (term timing discussed at the meeting).

"Jeffrey Stalnick has graciously volunteered to be on the agency for aging," Chair Gavin said when seeking a volunteer. Stalnick volunteered and a commissioner seconded; the motion passed with commissioners responding "Aye."

The commission also discussed scheduling off-site meetings to bring the commission to senior housing communities for outreach and feedback. Staff provided a list of previously visited locations and noted that off-site meetings typically have a shortened agenda to leave time for questions and community comment. Commissioners discussed holding one or more off-site meetings in 2025 and suggested starting as early as March, with several commissioners supporting Rancho Yellow (a senior housing community referenced by commissioners) as a likely first site.

Commissioners also discussed expanding and updating the Davis Senior Resource Guide, including adding information about legal clinics and student-run clinical programs. Staff said the guide is available online as a short-format booklet and invited commissioners to volunteer to help expand its contents.

The commission scheduled follow-ups: staff will share the Senior Resource Guide, coordinate possible off-site dates and provide the appointed representative with details for the December 4 county meeting.
