SMA Healthcare details 15-bed substance-use residential and reentry program planned for Putnam County

SMA Healthcare representatives told the Putnam County legislative delegation they are constructing a 15-bed coed substance-use residential facility in Palatka that will provide wraparound services and coordinate with county jail reentry programs.
Sandra Jackson, SMA regional director for Putnam and St. Johns counties, said the residential program at the K Larkin location will include reentry supports, primary care and wraparound services. She said construction is underway with a target completion date of May 2025 and a planned service start in July 2025 "if everything goes as planned."
SMA said the facility will work with Putnam County and St. Johns County jail reentry programs and that the provider has also expanded primary-care services and aims to add behavioral-health services in the future. Jackson requested opportunities to meet with delegation members to provide more detail.
Delegation members thanked SMA for the update and said staff could schedule follow-up briefings in Tallahassee.
