Crescent City seeks $2 million for fire station phase and $3.3 million for water-line replacements

Crescent City officials asked the legislative delegation for state help funding public safety and utility projects, including a $2 million request to complete phase two of a fire and EMS station and roughly $3.3 million to replace aging water lines.
Mayor Michelle Myers (introducing city representatives) and a city speaker outlined six projects and identified public safety as the highest priority. They said phase one appropriations of $1,000,000 were received last year and that phase two funding, requested at $2,000,000, would build ambulance and fire bays so the facility could house all public-safety operations in one location.
City officials also asked for construction funding of approximately $3,300,000 to replace water lines on North Tower, Lake Argento, Lake Street and South Tower Waterloo, saying the pipes are old, replacement will improve fire protection and provide adequate residential pressure. Officials said the city has contributed $119,000 toward design and has several grant applications pending, including over $500,000 in ARPA funds used for design.
Delegation members described the forthcoming legislative appropriation environment as smaller than COVID-era allocations and encouraged pursuing available grant programs. No appropriation decisions were made during the delegation meeting.
