Board approves 50% discount for Holy Trinity charter school court rentals

The Beaufort County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board on Jan. 9 approved a 50% discount for Holy Trinity Classical Christian School to reserve county tennis courts for youth play and practices, continuing a relationship the school had with the department last year.
Rob Mondavi, coach for Holy Trinity Classical Christian School, described last year’s program as well received, saying the children and families traveled from across the region to use county courts. Mondavi said last year the department granted a 25% discount; he asked the board to continue a similar arrangement.
Board members and staff discussed how to calculate the season total. Staff reviewed possible fee calculations for six days of court use (six courts per day) and presented differing totals during the discussion; at one point staff noted a 50% reduction could leave a discounted total “around $900” depending on session counts, while another staff calculation put a 50% discounted figure closer to $1,325. Mondavi and staff agreed to reconcile dates and exact sessions with Heather and Parks staff.
After discussion a board member moved to continue the relationship under a 50% discount for the charter school; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor.
Staff said the discount is conditioned on availability and exact reservation dates and that final billing will reflect actual reserved sessions. The board asked staff to verify dates and the fee calculation with the requester and to apply the department’s existing procedures for school discounts.
Board members praised last year’s program and noted staff would perform the final confirmation and billing calculations before invoicing the school.
