Monongalia County Commission approves officers, schedules, appointments and sets TIF hearing

The Monongalia County Commission voted unanimously at its organizational meeting on Jan. 8, 2025, to elect leadership for the year, adopt parliamentary procedures and approve a slate of routine administrative items, including two requisitions for University Town Center funds and a resolution to begin the public-hearing process for a tax-increment financing (TIF) boundary amendment in the Harmony Grove area.
The actions formalize who will lead the commission and the procedures it will follow, set the 2025 meeting and holiday calendars, confirm representatives to outside boards and authorize administrative expenditures for existing district funds. Commissioners also approved personnel changes for sheriff’s office positions and directed staff on a pending fiduciary matter.

- Approved three personnel appointments in the sheriff’s office: Randy Stockton as a full-time, benefits-eligible school safety officer (start date Jan. 16, 2025), Ryan Taylor’s transfer from court security to a full-time process server position, and Carrie Webster as evidence custodian (all motions moved and seconded; passed unanimously).
- Approved requisition No. 17 for the University Town Center (UTC) series 2023A Property Tax District administrative expense fund in the amount of $4,507.50 for Municap monthly services (motion moved and seconded; passed unanimously).
- Approved requisition No. 98 for the UTC Excise Tax District administrative expense fund in the amount of $9,373.75 for Municap monthly services (motion moved and seconded; passed unanimously).
