Mesa planning board approves consent agenda including SA Recycling site plan, minutes and Craftsman on Elliott preliminary plat

The City of Mesa Planning and Zoning Board approved its consent agenda at the January 2025 public hearing, taking one motion to adopt several staff-recommended zoning actions and meeting minutes.

Items read into the record included minutes from the Dec. 11, 2024 Planning and Zoning Board meeting and several zoning cases. Item 3APZ25001 (ZON24-00784), a site plan review and special use permit for a large collection facility for SA Recycling LLC (owner Alex Hayes; applicant Whitney Morris Baugh PLC) in District 4, was listed on the consent agenda with staff recommendation for approval of conditions. The board removed items 4B, 4C and 5B from the consent list for separate consideration and proceeded to approve the remaining consent items in a single motion. A board member moved to approve the consent agenda as read; another member seconded, the vice chair and Board Member Peterson verbally recorded their "yes" votes, and the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.

Among the items approved on consent were the meeting minutes, the SA Recycling site plan/special-use request (ZON24-00784) and the Craftsman on Elliott preliminary plat (ZON24-00855) with staff-recommended conditions. Items removed from the consent agenda (including ZON24-00469 and ZON24-00891/PZ25005) were later heard and voted on separately.

The consent-vote summary will be part of the Planning and Zoning Board record and those items will proceed to any subsequent steps required by city process.
