ACC approves relocated propane-tank placement after contractor guidance and code change

The ACC approved a request to relocate two vertical propane tanks to a side-yard location after the applicant said local propane suppliers will not install tanks beneath enclosed decks under current codes. Jay Young presented the change and said the location was chosen after consultation with Vander Yacht Propane and Northwest Propane.
Jay told the committee the tanks were originally planned under an enclosed deck, and several participants noted the code change and supplier guidance now prohibit that arrangement because propane is heavier than air and can collect beneath decks. He said Vander Yacht advised the proposed side-yard placement as the best safe-access site; the applicant said the delivery drivers could reach the tanks.
ACC members asked about access and whether the placement would impede any existing access routes; Jay replied the area would remain passable and the tanks would be vertical units. One ACC member moved to approve the change and the motion carried on a voice vote.
The committee recorded no additional conditions beyond standard documentation and asked the applicant to supply a color photo and confirmation of the tank manufacturer/size for the ACC file.
