The Apple Valley City Council on Jan. 9 appointed Council member Ruth Brendle to serve as acting mayor for 2025.
Council member Bergman moved to appoint Ruth Brendle; the motion received a second and passed by voice vote. The acting mayor designation fulfills a statutory requirement that the council annually name who will preside in the mayor's absence or when the mayor is outside the city.
Brendle accepted the appointment and said she would be honored to serve. The council made no further changes to the roster and moved on to subsequent agenda items.
