Commissioners approve minutes, claims, payroll and appoint Lake Santee Water District member

The Decatur County Board of Commissioners opened routine business on Jan. 9 by approving the Dec. 16 meeting minutes, county claims and payroll. Claims reported at the meeting totaled $183,195.45; gross receipts (grame? as read) referenced $866,616.65; payroll as of Jan. 3 was reported as $378,785.25. Commissioners approved claims and payroll by voice vote.
The board also appointed Larry Nix to the Lake Santee Water District board to replace Paul Gaspar, who served for 19 years. The nomination from the Lake Santee board was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Commissioners paused to praise highway and other county crews for storm-response work and to accept departmental reports from building and planning staff and county offices.
