Commission approves resurfacing, sidewalk hearings and restricted-fund budget adjustments

The engineer’s estimate presented in the meeting was $6,310,210 with a bid opening date of Feb. 6; the package covers roughly 12.13 lane miles (the engineer read a list of roads totaling 12.13 miles). Funding was stated as $2,000,000 from a Road and Bridge (engineer stated "Road and Bridal" in the record) account and the balance from the Permissive Auto Fund.
Restricted-fund budget adjustments: Commissioners also approved a multi‑department restricted-fund budget adjustment that covered: software upgrades in Domestic Relations Court out of special projects funds; a parking-facilities adjustment to address an employee retirement payout for 2024; replacement parts for traffic signals in the engineer’s office; and the appropriation for the resurfacing work listed above. Another budget adjustment approved was $140,000 in issuance costs related to Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) credit facilities; county officials said MSD will reimburse the county for those issuance costs.
Why it matters: The resurfacing and sidewalk items represent routine but visible infrastructure work that affects travel safety and neighborhood conditions countywide; the budget adjustments use restricted funds and were described in the meeting as not drawing on the county’s general fund.
