Supervisors noted the sheriff had requested a larger increase; the board settled on a 5% raise for that office plus a $1,000 stipend they discussed applying to certain department heads and the board chair. After discussion, the motion to approve the 3.5% increase, the $1,000 stipend and the 5% sheriff increase passed by voice vote.
Board members referenced a salary survey on ISAC’s website and compared Osceola County’s pay ranks with neighboring counties. One supervisor cited the county attorney’s current salary (noted in the meeting as about $104,472) while others noted Lyon County’s higher compensation; the board cited the survey information as one factor in choosing a moderate increase.
The adjustments will be incorporated into departments’ budgets; staff noted that salary and health-insurance line items may still require finalization once the board adopts budget documents and clarifies the attorney position.
