Marshfield committee approves provisional retail liquor license for Mojo's MCCS LLC

The Marshfield Judiciary Licensing Committee on Jan. 9, 2025, approved a provisional retail liquor license for Mojo's MCCS LLC, 201 South Central Avenue, allowing the applicant to operate beginning that evening if he chooses while the full license awaits final council approval.

The provisional license request followed a background briefing from licensing staff that the committee had approved the applicant's Class B combination license application at a Jan. 7 meeting and that the city council was scheduled to finalize the license at its next meeting. Because the application was filed Jan. 2, the earliest date the licensing office could normally issue the license was Jan. 17. The previous owners had planned to surrender the license on Jan. 17, but licensing staff said that surrender occurred on Jan. 7; as a result, all liquor on the premises was locked and inaccessible until a valid license was in place.

Licensing staff told the committee the applicant, represented by agent Liam Olsen, had initially planned to wait for the standard issuance date but chose to pursue a provisional license so the business could resume food and alcohol sales over the upcoming weekend. Committee member Curran moved to approve a provisional license "through 16th or until 17th," and Committee member Bridal seconded. The committee approved the motion by voice vote; no opposing votes were recorded in the minutes. Licensing staff emphasized the provisional authorization does not change the underlying application that will be acted on again by the city council.

No citizens were present for public comment on the item. The committee had no items for future agendas and adjourned shortly after the vote.
