The Hamilton County Commission postponed agenda item 125-20 and clarified that three matters pertaining to Jamie Varnell — items 122431, 122432 and 12520 — will be deferred to the commission's Jan. 15 meeting.
At the recessed session on Jan. 8 a commissioner moved, “Without objection, I'd like to move that to next week,” in reference to item 125-20; the motion was not recorded with a formal second or roll-call vote. Later in the meeting the chairman (name not specified), asking the clerk for clarification, said: “so all matters pertaining to Jamie Varnell, which includes 122431, 122432, and, 12520 are being deferred till 15th.”
The commission did not take a formal roll-call vote on the underlying matters during the Jan. 8 session; the items were postponed by agreement and will be on the Jan. 15 agenda for further consideration. The clerk had previously confirmed that item 125-20 was the single item shown on the recessed agenda before it was moved.
No details about the substance of the items or any associated staff reports were presented at the Jan. 8 session. The transcript records the deferral and the agenda numbers named by the chairman; it does not record a motion maker's name, a second, or a recorded vote tally for the postponement.
The commission reconvened its agenda session after the recess and announced the Jan. 15 meeting time of 9:30 a.m., when the deferred items are expected to return to the docket.
