Rosemount staff honored for 28th consecutive GFOA award; council approves consent agenda including CDBG and hauler licenses

Rosemount — City staff accepted the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for Rosemount’s 2023 audit, the 28th consecutive year the city has received the recognition.
Tia, the city’s administrative director, told the council staff submitted the 2023 audit in June 2024 and the city was notified of the award last week. Council members praised the finance team’s work and noted the award demonstrates fiscal diligence during a period of active development.
Following the presentation, the council approved the consent agenda by roll call. Items on the consent agenda included bill listings; minutes of the Dec. 7, 2024 regular council meeting; designation of an acting mayor; naming of official newspapers and depositories; annual electronic funds transfer authorizations; appointment of directors to the Dakota 911 Center; acceptance of an in-kind donation from the Hosanna Community Impact Team; approval of 2025 solid waste hauler licenses (6 residential, 5 construction, 7 commercial); designation of the 2025 Community Development Block Grant location representing $41,778; and an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) related to State Road 3 at the U.S. high school roundabout (details in packet).
Council Member Tyson moved approval of the consent agenda; Council Member Freske seconded. The roll call recorded: Hessler — aye; Temple — aye; Weisenfeld — aye; Tyson — aye; Reske — aye. The chair declared the consent agenda approved 5–0.
No public comment was received during the meeting, and staff had no additional announcements beyond routine scheduling updates. The council set its next meeting for Jan. 21, 2025, and city hall will be closed Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
