Summary
After interviewing Rob Drake, council approved an employment contract to have him serve as interim city manager starting Feb. 1; Drake has prior experience as mayor of Beaverton and as an interim manager in other Oregon cities.
The Tigard City Council unanimously approved an employment contract to appoint Rob Drake as interim city manager, with a start date of Feb. 1.
City Attorney presented the contract after council members interviewed Drake on Dec. 23 and concluded he had the experience to manage the city through the recruitment of a permanent city manager. The council cited Drake’s municipal leadership background, including 16 years as Beaverton’s mayor and recent interim city‑manager roles in Tillamook, Carlton, Cornelius and North Plains, as factors in the decision.
City Attorney noted the contract had been signed by Drake and that council’s vote would finalize the appointment. The motion to approve passed unanimously.
Ending Staff said Drake will begin Feb. 1 and that the recruitment for a permanent city manager will continue during his interim tenure.
