The Carl Junction Board of Aldermen voted to approve a quote from Tyler Technologies to upgrade the city’s utility metering software, the aldermen said during the meeting.
City staff presented the quote as a follow-up to a previously approved contract to upgrade meter-side software so meters and the utility billing system can communicate. The board approved the quote by voice vote, with seven aldermen voting in favor and one absent.
City staff said the cost will be charged to the water and wastewater funds. “I did follow-up after we got the packet and confirmed that the funding for this will come between, sewer or wastewater and water funds,” a staff presenter said during the meeting. Staff estimated the vendor will deliver the last of the product by the end of February and hoped the work would be in place by the end of March.
No alderman raised an objection when a motion to approve the quote was made and seconded. The board’s chair then called for the vote; the motion carried 7–0 with one member absent.
The board discussed payment timing briefly and staff confirmed the city will not pay Tyler Technologies until the services are delivered. No ordinance was required for the purchase, staff said.
The board’s approval authorizes staff to proceed with the upgrade; staff will manage coordination with the tower communications provider so the system can communicate with the water tower and other assets as needed.
