Committee approves consent items; staff reports payroll system go-live succeeded with follow-ups needed

The committee approved routine consent items and heard an update on the city's payroll system conversion.

The chair said there were no objections and the minutes dated Dec. 3, 2024, were approved. The claims report dated Dec. 9, 2024, was also approved after the chair noted he had reviewed it and no councilmembers raised questions. Consent-agenda items listed in the packet included renewal of an interlocal agreement with King County for jail services and an interlocal agreement for participation in a regional fire garage consortium; the chair indicated no objections to taking the claims report and consent items as presented.

Separately, a staff member identified as Drew reported that the city's new payroll system (Munis) went live the previous day and that the bank accepted the payroll file so employees were paid the next morning. “People were paid this morning,” Drew said. He said early feedback indicated most employees received correct amounts, though staff must fix accrual tables and some pay-stub categories and continue to maintain a backup system (Springbrook) while resolving issues.

Drew said the team would monitor reports and encouraged employees to check accounts and email payroll if they did not receive funds. He described the recent work as intensive testing and tax-table updates for the new year, and said staff would continue to operate both systems for a transition period.

No substantive amendments to the consent items were recorded during the meeting; routine approvals were taken with no recorded roll-call tallies in the committee transcript.
