City Administrator Clint Gridley told the Woodbury City Council on Jan. 8 that the city received a Conservation Partners Legacy Grant of $358,609 to support vegetation restoration at Ojibwe Park.
Gridley said building inspection and construction activity in 2024 were similar to 2023 and described the local development climate as balanced for the city’s inspection staff and projects. He said two affordable housing projects were in early stages and might come forward in 2025.
Gridley also highlighted recent work by the Public Safety Department’s Community Impact Unit: officers made 22 arrests and recovered nearly $4,000 in merchandise during an eight-hour operation coordinated with retail partners, according to his report to council.
On planning items, Gridley noted the Planning Commission will meet Jan. 13; the Math and Science Academy comprehensive plan amendment, rezoning and conditional use permit preliminary project will go through the Planning Commission and, if recommended, will come to council for a public hearing on Jan. 22. Gridley said the city will return to a workshop later in the night for other items and that early designs for a public safety building will be shown at the next workshop.
Ending: Gridley’s report covered operations, grants and upcoming land-use hearings; council asked staff to return to workshops with further materials on the public safety building and other items.
