Temple Terrace City Council on Jan. 7 approved a resolution awarding school support grants totaling $28,647.30 to 21 projects submitted by eight area schools, the School Support Committee chair told the council.
Christina Paul, chair of the School Support Committee, said the committee reviewed and rated 23 grant applications and recommended funding for 21 projects. Committee members extended the application deadline this cycle to accommodate teachers impacted by recent storms; staff confirmed funds are available in the fiscal year 2024‑25 budget.
Councilmember Fernandez asked whether an additional grant cycle would be held to address late applications; Paul said the committee would not hold another cycle this year but had extended the application window earlier to make up for time lost to storms. Council thanked committee members and staff for facilitating the grants.
A motion to fund the recommended grants ($28,647.30) carried unanimously. The resolution did not list project‑level details on the council floor; staff and the School Support Committee have the full award list and will administer disbursements per the program rules.
Ending: The committee meets on the fourth Monday of each month; residents with questions about the application process were directed to contact the city clerk.
