The Municipal Code Enforcement Board on Jan. 8 granted a 30-day extension to Terrace Oaks Homeowners Association (Case No. 24-3231) to complete pool repairs and comply with the board’s prior order. The extension runs to the board's Feb. 12, 2025 meeting.
Adele Musa, a Terrace Oaks Association board member, said the homeowners association previously approved funds to repair the community pool but that holiday scheduling delayed responses from the pool contractor. Musa said the HOA is working to resolve necessary electrical and pool repairs and asked for an additional 30 days. City staff and board members reiterated that the pool is a health-and-safety concern: the board asked the HOA to lock the pool gate and provide evidence of the lock placement. "If a child fell in the pool, would you be able to see the child on the bottom of the pool?" a board member asked; Musa said she did not know and volunteered to secure the pool.
City staff noted that a $25-per-day final penalty would begin on Jan. 9 if the deadline is missed. The board voted to extend the compliance deadline to Feb. 12, 2025, and urged the HOA to post a photograph of the lock or otherwise verify that the pool is secured. The board indicated it will review progress at the February meeting and may resume fines or other enforcement if the pool remains unsecured or repairs are not underway.
Speakers included Adele Musa (Terrace Oaks Association board member) and Tom Barone (Code Compliance Director).
