Women’s Club secures city room and telecast for Feb. 12 political forum

Sue Lawrie, president of the Women’s Club, and Kathy Sills, chairman of the political-forum event, told commissioners they would like access to the Lakeshore Center beginning around 6:30 p.m. to set up. "The political forum for the upcoming election of city commissioners was approved at a prior commission meeting. We're here tonight on behalf of the Women's Club to request your approval of Wednesday, February 12, 2025, starting at 7 pm as the date and time for the political forum," Lawrie said.
Commissioners signaled consensus to grant the request; no formal motion was recorded. Staff estimated the event would require about two hours of staff time for set-up and breakdown. The club said it expects to follow past telecasting practice for the forum.
No city costs or special staffing orders were recorded in the meeting record beyond the routine time estimate provided by staff.
