Sebring council approves first reading of temporary moratorium on mobile-home developments; reviews park, downtown projects and CRA vacancy

The Sebring City Council approved first reading of Ordinance No. 1535, establishing a temporary moratorium on applications for mobile-home parks and related developments, and scheduled the second and final reading for Jan. 21, 2025.

The moratorium ordinance was introduced as agenda item 12(a). City staff read the ordinance title into the record, saying it pertained to “the implementation of a temporary moratorium on the acceptance, processing and or consideration of any petition, application, or request for development order of any type ... related to mobile home parks.” The ordinance as presented would run, if adopted on second reading, through Jan. 20, 2026.

Council members made and seconded a motion to approve the ordinance on first reading and to schedule the second reading for Jan. 21, 2025; the motion carried on the voice/roll call recorded in the meeting segment.
