"We're gonna have a meeting of the Sandy Springs Board of Ethics to order for Wednesday, January 8, 2025," the presiding member said at the start of the meeting.
The board voted by voice to reelect its current leadership after a motion and second; the presiding member called for those in favor to "say aye," and there were no recorded opposing votes. The board also approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from its previous meeting.
The board approved a schedule of three regular meetings in 2025, with dates listed as April 9, July 9 and Oct. 22. Members moved Oct. 22 into the schedule after noting the previously listed Oct. 8 date conflicted with a Jewish holiday; a board member identified the holiday as Sukkot and asked to move the October meeting to Oct. 22 to avoid the conflict. Members discussed summer availability for the July date and agreed staff should confirm quorum earlier than usual: rather than the standard one-week reminder, staff will attempt a two-week notice ahead of the July meeting so the board can determine whether to cancel.
Board members also raised the subject of filling vacancies and alternates. The presiding member said the mayor is seeking nominees for several boards and that nominees must be Sandy Springs residents to serve; the mayor had spoken to board leadership about the city—s 20th anniversary and "thought there would be an opportunity to kinda get big groups together," but provided no specific plans for the Board of Ethics.
