Hamilton County Council elects Sue Mackey president, names Brad Beaver and Steve Nation co-vice presidents

A councilor described the idea as a short, county-produced bulletin with two feature articles, a “notes from the president” item, a major projects update and a short budget summary or “spend today” item with optional comments from the county auditor. The councilor said the newsletter would be published electronically and could be distributed to residents and schools.
On the subject of personnel and pending hires, councilors said they need to narrow a candidate list and move selected applicants to telephone screening by human resources. Councilors described a follow-up committee meeting to review HR screening results and schedule in-person interviews; no final hires were made at the meeting.

A councilor moved, “I move to have Sue Mackey be president.” Another councilor summarized the newsletter concept: the product would include “2 articles, notes from the president, a major projects update, and then maybe a spend today from a budget with maybe some comments from the auditor.”
No formal action was required or taken on the newsletter proposal at the Jan. 8 meeting; councilors said they would continue work on the idea and determine distribution and content in later meetings.
