The Wichita County Commissioners Court voted Jan. 7 to accept a $47,128 bid from Wichita Falls Ford House for a precinct work truck, and commissioners discussed financing and vehicle configuration before completing payment arrangements.
Commissioner Watts moved to select the Wichita Falls Ford House bid for $47,128 and to charge the purchase to Department 224; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Fincannon and passed 5-0. Vendors present discussed financing and lease options, including a one-time refinance option that could allow the county to take advantage of future lower interest rates.
Commissioner Watts said the chosen gasoline model was roughly $15,000 cheaper than a diesel alternative and recommended moving forward with gasoline despite the yard’s limited use of gasoline vehicles. Vendor representatives said the truck was on hand and that the seller could prepare turnkey pricing that included any necessary upfitting. County staff noted there would be additional upfit costs and that staff were collecting quotes for that work; commissioners agreed to issue the purchase order promptly and to return within a week to finalize payment arrangements whether through direct purchase, lease, or financing.
The court’s vote formally authorized selection of the bid and left the exact financing method and upfit-approval details to follow as staff and vendors provide cost estimates.
Commissioner Watts and county procurement staff said they would coordinate with the vendor to produce financing options for 3-, 4-, or 5-year terms and to provide exact turnkey pricing that includes upfitting.
