Board approves reappointments and committee seats for more than 30 regional bodies

At its Jan. 7 meeting the Napa County Board of Supervisors reviewed and approved a list of appointments and reappointments for more than 30 committees, commissions and advisory bodies that carry county representation.
The board affirmed Supervisor Ramos as both the county’s executive board member and general‑assembly representative to the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG); Supervisor Ramos also begins a term as ABAG president and will serve on the Metropolitan Transportation Commission by virtue of that role. The board appointed Supervisor Gallagher and Supervisor Alessio as alternates on select ABAG duties, as described in the meeting packet.
The board confirmed current and new assignments across a range of regional bodies, including the Bay Area Air Quality Management District Board of Directors, California State Association of Counties (with Supervisor Cottrell as the county’s CSAC member and Supervisor Alessio as alternate), the Climate Action Committee (Supervisor Gallagher and Supervisor Alessio as members; Supervisor Manfry as alternate), and the Bay Area MTC appointment process (nomination from the Napa City‑County City Selection Committee to follow on Jan. 28).
Other appointments recorded in the meeting included seats on MCE Clean Energy (one seat pending city selection committee), the Napa County Behavioral Health Board (Supervisor Alessio accepted the seat), Napa Child Care and Development Planning Council (Supervisor Alessio), Napa Sanitation District (Supervisor Gallagher as member; Supervisor Alessio as alternate), Napa‑Vallejo Waste Management Authority, Upper Valley Waste Management Agency, Napa Valley Tourism Corporation and the Workforce Alliance of the North Bay (Supervisor Alessio and Supervisor Gallagher named to that board). The board discussed travel and meeting‑frequency implications when confirming assignments; several supervisors noted calendar constraints and the need to coordinate with city selection processes for some regional seats.
After discussing preferences and potential alternates for each seat, the board voted to approve all of the suggested appointments in a single motion. The clerk recorded the motion and the board carried it by voice vote.
