Village board schedules downtown design workshop, hears updates on street‑lighting and community events

The Village Board announced a downtown design-guidelines workshop with consultants from the Farnsworth Group and reviewed several routine operations and small capital updates.

The board invited members of the Farnsworth Group to lead a design-guidelines workshop for the downtown area; board members and staff moved chairs to a workshop area to begin that discussion. Separately, a board member reported that residents had requested street lights on Kekkegee Street to match work done on Eastern Avenue and said the estimated cost was about $10,000 for six lights, a transformer and wiring. Board members expressed support for the project and no objections were raised on the record.

Other operational updates included: - New Vision Flooring will start installation of vinyl flooring in the meeting room on Tuesday, Jan. 14; the work was reported to be a two-day project. - A community blood drive is scheduled in the meeting room on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.; board members were given contact information to sign up. - A strategic session for the board is scheduled for Jan. 25 at 8 a.m.; board members were asked to submit agenda items in advance. - The dog park’s certificate of insurance has been approved, clearing an administrative step for that project. - Planning staff reported they are preparing a revised comp plan map and expect a traffic assessment to accompany it in the near term. - Work on installing street lights along Baker Road is under way; one board member reported crews began placement that day.
