Following an executive session held under Texas Government Code Section 551.074, the Mineral Wells City Council reconvened Jan. 7 and approved several appointments and reappointments.
The council appointed members to a Charter Commission (by ward): Ward 1 — Jacqueline Fitzhugh; Ward 2 — Margaret Pekachek Griffith, Jenny Milliken, Randy Nix, Jason Reynolds; Ward 3 — Chrissy Burnett, Christiana Rodriguez, Brian Shoemaker; Ward 4 — Peggy Clifton, Rhonda Wilkinson; and named Council representatives Jonathan Rusher and Reagan Johnson. The motion was noted as pending a minor revision to be finalized at a subsequent meeting and carried 6-0.
Council members also moved to backfill a city seat on the Board of Adjustment: Bridgette Whirley was appointed to a full member position and Randy Tucker named as voting alternate, with the motion carried 6-0. The council reappointed Crystal Cameron, Vicky Novak and Carl Turner to a named local cabinet (referred to as Manuel's cabinet in the record); those reappointments were approved 6-0.
City staff indicated the motions follow executive-session deliberations permitted under Texas law; the council recorded the votes and will complete any paperwork or confirmations required by ordinance or charter.
