Firefighters stop attic fire at Lucky 5 on Main Street; business back in operation the next day

Spanish Fork Fire & EMS briefed the City Council on Jan. 7 about a commercial fire earlier in the week on Main Street that involved the Lucky 5 restaurant. Fire officials said a proactive response limited damage to the building’s front facade and prevented extension into the attic.
Fire Marshal Turner observed smoke while driving through downtown and confirmed flames at the Lucky 5 restaurant beneath the Mansard façade. He radioed for a response, entered the restaurant to evacuate staff, and also evacuated the adjacent north building as a precaution while crews assessed possible attic involvement. Firefighters operated on the roof and attic areas to stop the fire from spreading.
Chief Hales told the council the quick recognition and fast work of firefighters prevented more extensive structural loss: “If it gets in the attic, it's usually pretty hard to stop at that one spot. And so we were able to stop that very quickly because of quick action and recognition.” He said there were no injuries and that Lucky 5 was back in business within 12 hours; the storefront remains boarded to secure a damaged section until repairs can be made.
Council members applauded the crews for the visible response and the city noted there were no reported injuries and normal business operations resumed. Staff did not present any requests for additional funding related to the incident at the meeting.
