Tinley Park to seek agreement with Orland Park to relocate public-safety communications equipment to water tower

Trustee Mueller moved and (Trustee Mahoney seconded) to forward an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the village of Orland Park to move Tinley Park public-safety receiver equipment to an Orland Park water tower; the referral carried by roll call Jan. 7.
John, staff member, told trustees the village currently houses receiver equipment on a bank property that is becoming harder to access because of changing ownership and administration. The IGA would relocate the equipment and antennas across the street to an Orland Park water tower behind the Georgios restaurant, providing improved access and somewhat greater elevation for transmission, John said.
“Which obviously would give us a lot more accessibility and a little bit more elevation for height to allow for some better transmission,” John said. Trustees asked no substantive follow-ups; the committee voted to send the IGA to the Village Board for review. No final lease or equipment transfer was executed at the committee meeting.
Any final use agreement, equipment relocation timeline and operational terms will be determined by the Village Board and through the intergovernmental negotiation with Orland Park.
